Imogen S. Papadopoulos, also known as "Immy", was licensed
to practice law in 1984. She entered South Texas College of Law
(located in Houston, TX) after raising four sons. Immy also holds
a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Psychology and a Master's degree
in Counseling and Guidance. She has done post-master's studies in
the area of clinical and counseling psychology.
Immy has represented adults and children in family law matters for
the majority of her legal career. She is board certified in Family
Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, is a Fellow of the
American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, past president of the Houston
Bar Association-Family Law Section for which she received the Houston
Bar Association's President's Award and has been a frequent speaker
as well as course director for Continuing Legal Education programs
in family law and mediation courses presented in Texas. She is trained
and serves as a family law mediator and has completed Arbitration
Training by the American Bar Association and the American Academy
of Matrimonial Lawyers. In 1997, Immy attended the Harvard University
"Negotiation Workshop". Immy continues to emphasize her
creative solutions to complex property cases. In addition to her
legal skills in solving complicated family law matters, Immy brings
to the negotiation table a wealth of information related to the
best interest of the children.
Immy served on the Harris County Children's Protective Services
Board for 14 years, including serving two years as President of
the Board. She has received awards for her service to families and
children including the Board Leadership Award presented by the Child
Welfare League of America, Outstanding Citizen Award and Proclamation
from the Harris County Commissioner's Court with an acknowledgment
from President Ronald Reagan, Sister Mary Amelia Shannon Mental
Health Award for public service to children and families, SAVVY
award as an outstanding Harris County volunteer in the area of abused
and neglected children, Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards "Volunteer
of the Year", and "Hometown Hero Award" presented
by Warner Cable for work done with families and children.
Currently Immy is a member of the Board of Trustees of South Texas
College of Law, serving on its budget and long range planning committee;
an appointee to the State of Texas Health Care Information Council
where she serves on the executive committee, a founding member of
the Texas Community Partners, a state-wide public-private sector
partnership with Children's Protective Services of the Texas Department
of Protective and Regulatory Services (TDPRS), and a founding member
and chair of a newly formed public/private sector partnership with
TDPRS Adult Protective Services program.
